I could make a list or something like this, but there are a billion of those out there. So instead I'm just going to ramble on and on about my favorite TV show. I'll start by getting a few others out of the way real quickly.
Parks & Rec, Breaking Bad and Castle are probably the most recent shows that rank high on my list. I'm currently going through Castle at this time so that may change depending on later seasons. I would also probably include Westworld in that list, but until HBO actually shows that there will be another season I'm hesitant to put it on here. I'm counting only shows with more than one season, by the way.
With those out of the way, on to my favorite show of all time: Futurama. Futurama was a show that was always fantastic, but never had enough support from FOX. It was the best thing on TV, even better than it's bigger brother The Simpsons. It had the same fate as Family Guy, but unlike Family Guys long run after coming back, Futurama didn't get as much love.
Yes, it did come back. Twice. But it still never got the support that Family Guy did. Which is a shame. But it did get 4 direct to DVD movies (split into 16 episodes for a season) and then two more seasons on Comedy Central.
There were some great episodes when it came back and some not so great, but they at least were able to leave the fans with closure for the characters that everyone loved. I haven't seen them as much as the original episodes, but I still enjoy them.
Speaking of how much I've seen the original episodes, it's hard to count. When Cartoon Network was showing the episodes I caught the two episodes a night, twice. I'm sure if you went through and found the stats and did the math, it's probably at least 100 times each. Add on the amount of times I went through the original episodes with audio commentary and that number gets bigger.
I just loved the show, loved the characters, and loved how stupidly smart it was. If you haven't listened to the audio commentaries, do yourself a favor and buy them on DVD and listen to them. You'd be amazed at all the actual science that is in that show.
But in the end the show just makes me happy. It's a fun lighthearted show. Yet if you watch Jurassic Bark, I bet you won't make it through the episode with balling your eyes out. The show has depth. And it has heart. And it's just perfect.
