Growing up and even to this day, I never really read comic books. I've owned some throughout my life, but never a lot. I probably own more now just because of how many comic movies there are that I do get interested in reading more about them.
However, I did grow up during a great time for comic book animated shows, the 90s. X-Men, Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc. I watched them all. X-Men was may favorite. Still is to this day. Batman probably ranked second.
I just went through 3 comic movies in the past 24 hours. Logan, Batman vs Superman, and Suicide Squad. I had see the last two, but hadn't seen Logan. Logan was phenomenal. Being a huge Wolverine fan since I was a kid, seeing a violent adult Wolverine movie was what I have been waiting for. A good way for them to send Hugh Jackman's Wolverine off.
The other two are movies that aren't that great. Batman vs Superman is ok, but way too long. I've always been bored by Superman and Batman can be hit or miss. Spread that out over 3 hours and it's hard to make it through it. I watched it while playing Injustice 2, which at least makes the DC characters entertaining. Something that is needed as a lot of them are boring.
Suicide Squad is, well it's a movie. Will Smith saves it. Jared Leto almost ruins it. And well, I've always loved Harley Quinn. Seeing her debut in the Batman Animated Series when I was a kid, I have always loved Harley Quinn. I still like the old outfit more, but the new one is still easy on the eyes.
So with all the movies and the variety of quality it's still nice to see other people getting into them. I have friends that are way into it and have been since they were kids. There are some that are into them because of all the movies, but don't really know much outside of the movies and are always asking question when some reveal is made.
Then there's me. Somewhere in between those two. Not in deep enough to know all the deep cuts that are shown in the movies, but deep enough to know what's going on and able to explain it. I'm curious to see how long the comic book movies are able to keep people entertained. At least the money is being put in them so they're not super cheesy anymore.
